Course Reflections

To be honest I’m so glad I have finally finished, or should I say relieved. As much as I felt confident with computers and technology, Web2.0 was a whole new experience for me.

Blooms Taxonomy
I currently use a lot of Blooms in my classroom, it is a valuable teaching tool that I use to help differentiate my teaching and learning and programs. Having blooms digitally is an amazing resource that I will constantly use.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to discover a whole new world of teaching resources using technology. I have definitely discovered many new ways to teach and engage my students in their learning. I still need some training and assistance with a few of the tools as they were very unfamiliar. I look forward to continuing my online journey and enhancing my skills.

Module 10

Module 10 was a great way to sum up my learning on the use of Web2.0. I really enjoyed exploring the bookleads and storytelling and can see myself using them as classroom resources.


My responses to the following questions...
What role do you see for using Web 2.0 tools in your own life as a learner and a member of online communities?
I was unfamiliar with a lot of the Web2.0 tools. The tools I was familiar with I use personally not professionally.
I enjoyed having the opportunity to learn about a variety of new resources online which I can implement into my teaching.

How can Web 2.0 assist in improving learning outcomes for all students?
I think Web2.0 is a great tool to help me differentiate my teaching and learning strategies in the classroom. I think it will provide opportunities for children to show their learning in an effective and positive way creating confident learners.

Module 9

Module 9 was not as difficult as some of the modules I have completed.

Scootle was new to me. I had never heard of it, nor used it. It looks great and I think it would be a valuable tool for my classroom and as a homework tool.

I already use the social networking sites. Facebook is fantastic. I learnt about it in 2008/2009 when I was in Africa. The people I met travelling from England and Europe were already members. I joined as I thought it was a great way to keep in contact but also share photos. I'm still a huge fan and enjoy facebook chats. I'm very particular about who I allow to access my information due to privacy.

I would love to have a Year 4 class facebook page. I think being able to constantly communicate with the students as well as allow them to communicate with each other would be a great tool. Posting information on set tasks and the day or weeks learning would be a good way to share ideas. I am however aware of privacy for my students.

I'm not a member of twitter. I have friends and family members who are twitter fans. I think it is a site for people to be in the lime light, people who want to be recognised and that's not for me.

Module 8

To be honest i had never heard of RSS feeds before. I have to say i don't use blogs on the internet simply because i never new how to. I am constantly learning in this course.
I would be hesitant to use them in a proeffesional matter as i would be concerned as to how correct the information is that i recieve. I would be more inclined to use blogs for topics of interest.

I think this tool could be quiet useful for people who do use blogs and are interested in similar topics.

I have added some subscriptions to my google reader account, youtube, the surf report and cricket scores.

Module 7

Someone please help!!


I have spent the last 30min watching youtube videos and creating a Yahoo page in order to then create a Delicious page and have no idea how to set up bookmrks and tags.

This is so ridiculous!!!!
I can't beleive how many accounts we have to create in order to complete this course. Why is it not linked to our wiki page and our main account.

This is meant to be a resource for us to use in the classroom. To be honest they have made it so hard to learn about why would we then want to use it.

I'm going to take some time out from Web 2.o course and hopefully I will return with a more positive attutide beacuse right know I feel like I have wasted 2 hours of quality time I could of used for planning and making new resources.

Module 6

Hi,

to be honest I was quiet frustrated completing this module. When I created my fisrt Bubbl page the account did not save so I had to redo my mind map and create a new account.

I can see some benifits with this tool, being able to put ideas down for others to see and comment on is a great communication and learning tool.

I feel a little overwhelmed at the minute with all the modules we are learning about and to be honest I am having trouble thinking of ways to implement all of them in my classroom.

I guess it is just a time thing. I think I need to spend more time learning about Bubbl and the benefits it will have for my students learning.

Module 5

Hi,

I have just completed Module 5. I'm familar with Youtube and already use it both for my private use and for the classsroom.

I think using You tube to show students videos on line that link with their learning is a great tool.


It gives students the opportunity to learn in a new way. It creates great discussion between students.

I will definately continue to use Yout Tube in my classroom.

I was not so familar with Podcast. I have not used podcasting. I have see my parnter use podcasting to learn about photography courses and a teacher friend of mine was explinging how it is linked to itunes. Thanks Jann!!

I had a look and found that podcasts will also be a great resource for the classroom. A tool that educates children in a fun way, they don't have to write or talk, they just listen. For the visual learners this will be very useful.

I have just completed Module 4 and can appreciate the wonderful tools flicker has but due to privacy I do not want to create a flicker page.

Hi all,

I have just completed Module 3 and found it a little difficult to workout how to share my documents.

I think the blog page will be more benifical for my students. I think the Google doc page will be a good tool for myself. If i'm away and need to document things down for work i can use this page. I like that it doesn't matter where I am I can save my work and access it from any computer.

Module 2

Hi all,

Module 2 was a great learning tool and resource for me as I have not used a blog page before.

I'm currently teaching Year 4 and think that this will be an excellent tool for the students to use, especially to discuss topics they are learning about in class.


I think the idea of a blog page for students to discuss the novels they are reading in class with children from all over the world will allow for wonderful discussion and help develop their comprehension skills and higher order thinking.

I think it is also a great resource for the students to discuss any questions or misunderstandings they have on topics being discussed in class with myself (the teacher) as well as students from different schools.
A great way for peer teaching to take place in an informal manner.

Module 1

Hi my name is Leanne Clarke.

I have been teaching full time for 5 years and to be honest thought I was quiet competent when it came to IT.

I have recently realised from this Web 2.0 course I have so much to learn.

I'm a facebook, hotmail and twitter fan but was completely unaware of blogs and wiki's.

MODULE 1: I found creating an Igoogle page was quiet easy. I constantly use google but was unaware that you could have your own page and enjoyed customising my page.

I look forward to finding out more about blogs and all that this course has to offer.
